Materials Needed:

  • Radish seeds (specifically for microgreens if possible)
  • Growing tray (with drainage holes)
  • Seed-starting soil or a coco coir/perlite mix
  • Spray bottle for watering
  • Light source (natural sunlight or grow lights)

Steps to Grow Radish Microgreens:

  1. Prepare the Tray:
    • Fill the tray with soil mix, leaving about an inch of space from the top.
    • Smooth the soil surface.
  2. Sow the Seeds:
    • Scatter the radish seeds evenly across the soil. Radish seeds don’t need to be deeply planted, so simply press them gently into the soil surface.
    • You can cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil, but it’s optional.
  3. Water:
    • Mist the seeds lightly using a spray bottle. Ensure the soil is moist but not waterlogged.
  4. Cover and Germinate:
    • Cover the tray with a lid or another tray to create darkness, encouraging the seeds to germinate.
    • Keep the tray in a warm, dark spot. Check the moisture level daily.
  5. Light and Growth:
    • In 2-3 days, radish seeds will start germinating. Once they do, uncover the tray and move it to a well-lit area or under grow lights.
    • Ensure the microgreens get around 4-6 hours of light each day.
  6. Watering:
    • Water the microgreens regularly using a spray bottle. Avoid overwatering to prevent mold.
  7. Harvesting:
    • Radish microgreens are ready to harvest within 7-10 days, when they’re about 2-3 inches tall. Use scissors to cut them just above the soil line.
